旧约 - 传道书(Ecclesiastes)第1章

The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem:
"Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless."
What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?
Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.
The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.
The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.
All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.
All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new"? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.
There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.
I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men!
I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
What is twisted cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted.
I thought to myself, "Look, I have grown and increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge."
Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.
For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.
传道书第一章   第 1 章 

  传 1:1> 这“传道者”是何许人── 

  1:1 此书的作者就是“在耶路撒冷作过以色列王”的所罗门( 1:12 )。他称自己为传道者,召聚人民来听他所传的信息,并且收集智慧的言语(箴言)。他是圣经中拥有世上一切(包括智慧、权力、财富、尊荣、名誉及神的恩宠)的人物,然而他却说世界上的一切至终都是虚空。他致力唤醒人民不要将信心放在个人的努力、才能和自己的义上,而要将自己奉献给神,作为他们活着的惟一理由。 

  传 1:1-11> 辉煌的所罗门,怎么还说虚空? 

  1:1-11 作者以怀疑和消极的论调写这卷书是有原因的。在他将走完人生路程时,回顾自己一生所做的,发现大多是虚空的。一般人相信只有好人才会兴旺,恶人定会受苦,但在他的经验中并不如此。他尝试了一切的追求,并取得极大的成就,但在他写这卷书时,发现除了神以外,没有什么可以令他快乐。他希望读者不要作同样无意义的追求。我们如果不在神里面,只想凭自己追求人生的意义,就永远得不到满足,所追求的反会令自己厌倦。 

  传 1:2> 作者写此书的目的是什么? 

  1:2 所罗门治理的以色列国虽处于全盛时期,但他想让百姓明白:成功和繁荣不可能长久持续下去(参诗 103:14-16 ;赛 40:6-8 ;雅 4:14 )。人类所有的成就,终有一天会归于乌有。我们应该将这道理存记于心,好叫我们有智慧地生活。不然,我们在成功时就会骄傲自满,失败时就会失望气馁。他写这书的目的,是要说明世上的财物和成就最终皆是虚空,惟有认识神,才会带来真正的满足。我们应该在言语、思想和行为上尊神为大。 

  传 1:8-11> 读书、工作、成家……一代一代周而复始,生命的意义何在? 

  1:8-11 很多人感到不安和不满。他们想:( 1 )为什么我遵守了神的旨意,反而极其疲倦,没有成就呢?( 2 )生命的意义是什么?( 3 )当我回首往事时,对自己的成就能感到快乐吗?( 4 )为什么我会觉得精疲力尽,幻想破灭,枯燥乏味呢?( 5 )我的将来会怎样?所罗门试验我们的信心,激励我们要在神里面探求人生真正恒久的意义。如果你像所罗门一样彻底检视自己的一生,就会发现事奉神才是最重要的。或许神正要求你再次思考你人生的方向,正如所罗门在传道书中所做的一样。 

  传 1:12-15> 人自以为有智慧,却不能完全明白一切事,哪怕是人自己…… 

  1:12-15 “弯曲的不能变直”是指我们因生命中许多无法解答的问题而引起的困惑和混乱。所罗门叙述自己的一生时,发现他的成就和智慧,皆不能使他有真正的快乐。真正的智慧在神里面,真正的快乐由讨神喜悦而来。 

  传 1:16-18> 信息爆炸,人需不需要有所选择地去接收?怎么选择? 

  1:16-18 如果你明白得愈多,你就愈会感到痛苦和艰难。譬如说,当你知道得愈多,就愈看见在你周围不完美的地方;你留意得愈多,就愈发现邪恶的踪迹。当你像所罗门一样寻求人生的意义时,就会有更多的感慨、思考、探索、伤痛和行动。你愿意付出这些代价去换取智慧吗? 

  传 1:16-18> 知识──从人而来,智慧──从神而来;你知道其中的分别吗? 

  1:16-18 在传道书中,所罗门着重两种不同的智慧:( 1 )从人而来的知识、推理或哲学;( 2 )从神而来的智慧。在这两节经文中,所罗门谈到人的知识。当知识使人摒除神时,知识就只会突出人的难题,不能给人答案。因为人若没有从神而来的永恒观点和解决方法,就不能解答难题。──《灵修版圣经注释》
